Declarations of Interest

Area Highways Manager Visit

Rebecca Dickson attended the meeting and advised the Council as follows:

  • Rebecca was reasonably confident that funding for Highways would continue at the same level as the previous year.
  • The classification of roads was explained based on usage. Rebecca undertook to examine why the lane from Mushton to St. Mellion was classified in two different categories. The Council said they would research the usage of the section from Mushton to the stream to allow for a possible reclassification to be made.
  • Rebecca said that the visibility at Amy Tree could and should be improved and would take the matter up via St. Mellion Council.
  • The junction at Kernock could be improved by Pillaton Council agreeing with the land owner and the Council funding an alteration to the hedge.
  • It was explained that the 30 mph signs were in accordance with the relevant Road Traffic Order and could not be moved without significant cost.
  • If the Council wished for ribbed lines to be installed at the entrance to the village and for an 'Unsuitable for HGV' sign at Kernock Lane then they should so request.
  • Cornwall Highways were experimenting with a method of repainting the existing finger posts.
  • The signs saying Pillaton could include 4 extra words if required.

The Minutes of 20th May 2009 and 19th May 2010 meetings were accepted unanimously.

Public Forum

There was one member of the public present namely Mr. Millward who expressed concern regarding the position of the dog bin. The Chairman reminded Mr. Millward that he had at the February meeting agreed to the moving of the bin to its original position.
